I have a report about that Emerson Fry sequin kimono: It’s gorgeous but HEAVY. I mean like, hurt your shoulders after an hour heavy. I had to return it.
I bought myself navy shearling Birkenstocks as a 50th birthday present- giving in to the same long-held wish. No regrets and two years on I may need to add a second pair.
Of course I love all the items I cannot have (or rather fit into cuz I need an XL) from COS...excuse my whining. Honestly love and want everything you linked to and haha & a occasion or two to wear them. Retired last Spring and besides missing the students I worked with I also miss getting dressed up everyday.
Nancy, I too am an XL and actually I shop at COS quite a bit…their style tends towards oversized and loose cuts so give them a try if you love the looks!
LOVE the color of that blue hoodie and while I don't love the price it's certainly something i would wear over and over and over so cost per wear....worth it? Sequins! I'd wear that first tee with my worn out jeans and my vintage Eddie Bauer leather jacket plus moto boots. Also, Birks + shearling= win win. Great list!!
1) I've been thinking I need to up my house shoe game. We take our outdoor shoes off when we come into the house. But the supportive slippers/shoes I have for indoors (and working from home) don't feel nice enough when people come over, especially for festive occasions. My feet-of-a-certain-age hurt if I spend too much time barefoot or in stocking feet on our wood floors, or too much time in shoes that aren't comfy and supportive. 2) Speaking of taking off outdoor shoes, do people have good strategies for going to other people's houses who practice this as well? Taking your indoor shoes along in a bag? And I've been wondering if we should provide something for visitors to our house to wear inside our house, rather than them padding around in their stocking feet, and if so, what?
I sometimes will take along a pair of my EVA birks in a plastic bag, and switch to those once inside.
I once knew an elegant hostess who provided a big basket of those little elastic over-shoe booties, after she put in cream-colored carpeting. We put them on over our shoes and it seemed to work out fine. (We probably kidded her a bit. But now I realize, changing shoes really is better. It just makes a lot of sense, when possible.) I think this is a really good option to give people. People with back problems, or special feet issues, need love too. Whatever people need to do to be comfortable having people over, they should look into doing, I think.
Years ago I had to take off my smelly sneakers when invited into the home of my husband’s Japanese colleague. I had dropped by to pick my husband up and didn’t expect to be invited in. Ever since I always have a fresh pair of socks in my bag.
I hate being barefoot / walking without shoes, as it's really uncomfortable for me. So when I visit other peoples' houses, I do bring slippers with me just in case they want me to take my shoes off.
You will NOT regret the Birks, Kim!! My black pair have been my house shoes for years now - I've completely worn through the 'fur' on the bottom, and have had to tighten the buckles several times as the suede has softened and worn. I finally bought myself a new pair (that should arrive today!) in a fab burgundy shade, and can't wait to start wearing them.
I recently bought a beautiful deep green sequined sweater from Anthro — not cheap, but the fabric itself is cashmere and it feels good on, not scratchy and plasticky like some sequin garments. It will be one of my holiday staples for the next several years at least. I seem to buy a sequined item once or twice a decade and make it last!
That blue hoodie is soooooooo up my alley. Perfect cut. Perfect color. It would be an instant workhorse for me. I’m very tempted.
Oh wow, those shearling Birks are the perfect solution to my winter house shoe quandary: my current shearling slippers are perfectly comfortable and toasty, but their soles turn me into a walking electrical conductor. Last year I shorted out both a touch lamp AND a toaster oven thanks to the static they generated! Since my summer house shoe Arizonas don't get me all charged up, I know I'll be safe with those clogs. Thank you!
I'm not very good at this game but, it does remind me of Superman and/or the Dodgers (whose color is alleged to be pantone 294). Plus with photos and monitors and what-nots, I just don't know.
I never agreed with what Miranda said to the kid. But then again, someone like me wouldn't.

"not just blue, not turquoise, not lapis, its actually cerulean..."
Ha, yes! Exactly.
Ahhh yes, Mrs Robinson. I wanted that streaky stripey hair!
And sequins…I’m just going to start wearing them. Who on their deathbed would say “I wore too many sequins”?
:)

You do!

Sequins!! How I wish we could make them a year round thing.....
I do too!
Let’s start a movement!
I love it! Seriously who does not like glam?

That's the Korean approach- a basket of slippers near the front door for guests- whether there's cream colored carpeting or not.

I keep hoping that J. Crew will restock this cashmere hoodie in camel, but so far, bubkes! https://share.icloud.com/photos/0e5jFuLnTfCp4TMWbXITDOSWQ

Thanks for mentioning the green sweater - I was curious so I looked it up - it's a gorgeous color.
I have those shearling Birkenstocks for winter house shoes, and you are correct: they are perfect
Yes indeed the birks will be the best house shoes.

Per the internet, it is not close to Dodger blue, because that looks darker. At least online. Out in the wild though, it might be close.
