I love sequins—they make for such good excitement pieces, especially if said sequins are employed more strategically, and not as part of a head-to-toe look (I have yet to find a sequin dress, for example, that I could hang with). Back in the early aughts, I feel like a lot of designers were using sequins in a more casual way, and I’m pleased to see that coming back a little, like with this perfectly slouchy tee.
A really cool Kimono-ish jacket from Emerson Fry that I’d wear dressed down just as shown, with jeans and a tee and probably significantly lower heels.
And, for the last in this mini-series, a top that would spiff up whatever you paired it with.
I wrote a little while ago about splurging not on fancy party dresses, but instead on items I’m likely to wear on a day-to-day basis, like this luxe cashmere hoodie in such a good…what would we call that blue? It’s not quite cobalt, not quite electric, but altogether perfect.
Cos has done a collab with photographer Chris Perani, and there are several pieces I am really coveting, like this super-chic speckled wool-blend jacket.
Also from that collab: a fringed clutch that looks pricier than it is and would be so fun to carry to a fancy party.
And the last item from the Cos collaboration: this gorgeous scarf-detail dress. I am always a sucker for blue and black together.
I have always wanted a leopard print bra that channels Mrs Robinson, and this might just be the one. I like its kind of pinkish tinge.
And here’s more leopard print, in the form of a smart wrap coat.
This nicely sculptural dolman tee is part of a big sample sale going on over at Ruti, a brand I like for its inspired shapes.
And finally, after years of desiring them but denying myself the pleasure of owning them, I have finally ordered these shearling-lined Birkenstocks, which I’m pretty sure think are going to be the perfect winter house shoes.
I have a report about that Emerson Fry sequin kimono: It’s gorgeous but HEAVY. I mean like, hurt your shoulders after an hour heavy. I had to return it.
"not just blue, not turquoise, not lapis, its actually cerulean..."
