Me too! The moment I take the neck out and just trim the sleeves the widest part of the shirt sits where my boobs are, the narrowest part is at my rib cage and my clavicle shows. 100% more flattering after two minutes with scissors.
Love all of these and have been on a tee hunt, thank you! I like dolman or batwing tops for bustiness and have found some good Go Couture tops at Nordstrom Rack that work. I had to weed through the crappy printed ones forever before finding some gems.
LOVE the deconstructed tee (black of course) but just cannot pay that much for a cotton tee no matter how perfect it is. The striped tees are nice but last thing I need on my body is horizontal stripes.
The drapey tee is so lovely, though I wonder how it looks on us women with bigger boobs. I'm not usually a big fan of ruching, but I love the J Crew tee. It looks like it would be fun to wear while still being work-appropriate.
On the waiting list for the wrap t. It's such a flattering shape and I am always on the lookout for something to wear with skirts that does not need to be tucked in. I'm so top heavy...matronly bosom, thick waist and tummy pudge but my legs are sticks. I'm constantly battling proportions.
I remember the day traditional t-shirts no longer looked cool on me--a layer of menopausal fat had moved in atop my nicely toned upper arms and that was that. Now I mostly wear them either around the house or under a blazer or sweater. Although I will make a pitch for the Rag & Bone Slub Tee. A bit spendy, but the cut and length of the sleeves are flattering and the shape is loose without being slouchy or box-ifying.
I was expecting a somewhat bland post when I saw only the first couple of words for the title of this post, but was I ever wrong. Thanks for a delightful post as always. I want all of them, especially the black ones.
I recommend t shirts that have either a rounded hem or a split hem, it’s more forgiving. For a rounded hem, the brand Wilt has some good options. For a split hem, my fave is a Tommy Bahama boat neck tee in a non tropical color.
I recently picked up a couple of cool looking Tshirts that kind of look like the ruched T, from old navy. They accentuate what little shape l still have. 😜
I have been looking for some new t-shirts with interesting details, that were elegant but also cool, and had an overall feminine shape but with an edge, and man does this hit right on the mark! Thank you so much for this!!!
I'm still hacking away at my t-shirts with scissors. Cutting out the crew neck and reshaping the sleeves ala the revelatory book Generation T.

Sounds like I need to try this!

Thanks for the book rec!

affirming a heartfelt defense of anything offered by Ruti...while simultaneously trying to avert my eyes because that website is kryptonite for me...

Great post for a real style need. Would love some recs with a v or more open neckline for us needing a little skin to balance things out.

Since people here are taking things into their own hands, maybe on some tees the side seam can be split aftermarket.
My uniform on most days is a black t-shirt with a logo and denim cutoff shorts. No white because the armpits tend to get discolored.

I have a summer cold so right now I hate pretty much everything. However, I LOVE that deconstructed tee!!!
I love seeing all the rutis...I have become obsessed with her clothes. Simple and so wearable.

And the winner is.... the wrap. The drapey one looks good in black as well.
Not as cool and fabulous as the Ruti one, but at a lower price point which is a sticking point for many of us!
