As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found classic T-shirts tougher to wear: they just don’t really look appropriate on me anymore, and—given my post-menopausal weight distribution—they don’t especially flatter either. Which is why I’ve been searching for chic and wearable alternatives, starting with this cooly drapey number, which comes in a few other neutral shades.
This deconstructed choice reminds me so much of the tees many of us were wearing in the early aughts, and I mean that in a good way. Also, just fyi, it comes in black too.
This is being called a muscle tee, but—unlike those—it has a hint of sleeve, which makes it so much more wearable and becoming.
A cotton wrap tee that would pair excellently with skirts.
Again, this ruched tee looks like something I would have worn in about 2003.
My feelings on tops with puffy shoulders are, surprisingly, evolving: while I could never pull one of them off, I do think they can look great on others. If that was me, I’d buy this one in a snap.
This boat-neck tank top is just a really fresh shape.
And finally, a versatile and becoming dolman sleeve tee.
I'm still hacking away at my t-shirts with scissors. Cutting out the crew neck and reshaping the sleeves ala the revelatory book Generation T.
LOVE the deconstructed tee (black of course) but just cannot pay that much for a cotton tee no matter how perfect it is. The striped tees are nice but last thing I need on my body is horizontal stripes.
