Is it wrong to lust after a winter boot? Because that's how I feel about the Penelope Chilvers. Every time you post, I'm like: is this the time?

They are so old school 60’s après ski. Like my mother would have worn them.

Penelope Chilvers is having a sale right now! They are out of a lot of sizes, but worth a look.

This week has been super icy in Philadelphia. I'm living for my YakTrax, which pop on to the bottom of your shoes and give you really good traction on ice and snow.

I tried these and didn't like them at all. I'm currently walking around in crampons, looking ridiculous, they're for mountain climbing, but I don't want to fall!

there's a couple different styles that might suit you better, the elders in my town also walk with ski poles!

Actually the ski poles aren't a bad idea.

I have a knockoff version and love them. Fortunately haven't had to dig them out of the closet this winter, though...yet.

My daughter and I both have the Sorel Explorer boots in the first picture (hers are black, mine are cognac). I can confirm they are the warmest, comfiest winter boots I've ever owned; they look great and they've held up well for years.

Danner Cloud Caps are also stellar winter boots - pull on, warm and have a good grip on icy surfaces. Canadian -40 winter tested :)

If you're in London, the Penelope Chilvers boots are cheaper! I bought a pair there (though I did size up; they seem to run small).

@Kim - do you waterproof yours? What do you use to waterproof them?

Forfend sounds like the Swedish expression, “Va Fan!” Which translates to “what the f*ck!”

I have the first pair and I've been wearing them in NYC all week! They are so soft and never slip. I bought them to go to Iceland in December years ago, can highly recommend.

I just bought those last week for my trip to NYC this weekend. Ironic since I live in Toronto and, playing against type, we haven’t really needed winter boots here for a couple of years.

The Chilvers boots look like if "The Sound of Music" had occurred during the winter months.

I live in the Rockies and work/walk outside a fair bit, and my boots are:

-tall equestrian Muck boots

-old sheep-lined Sorel knee-highs with YaxTrax to avoid slipping in the snow

-Manitobah Mukluks for "fancy" boots

-Ariat Babyfat for work boots

-Apex system ski boots (like a snowboard boot inside, you can remove the hard shell)

I’m an L.A. native, but when I travel to colder climes, the Canadian brand Cougar is my go-to cold wet-weather boot (Sorels is my other favorite). These Vanetta boots in chocolate and strawberry are not only waterproof and cute, but they are very comfortable for lots of walking! https://share.icloud.com/photos/0a02VmD3qw5QsXDp-tFNN0ipw

I love your pricey snow boots! Boot porn!!!!🥾

Those Penelope Chilvers boots are super cute. I noticed on their website that they sell lambswool insoles for only $15.

Once I realized my wide size 8.5 foot could fit a size 7 man's shoe, there was no looking back. Check out the LL Bean Men's Storm Chaser slip-on. It's ugly but it's winter perfection (and no laces to come untied!).

We've had a blast of rare cold weather here in Austin and I pulled out my Sorel boots I purchased on your recommendation maybe four years ago. They still look great and are still warm and cozy and have saved my hiney from the icy sidewalks (because no one here knows how to put eco-friendly salt on sidewalks! Bless their hearts.) Ergo, I applaud anything Sorel!!

For some reason my feet don't like Sorels, and Docs are sadly too heavy for me, but other than that, I want everything here. I just wish this post had been available last week, when I finally gave up on my cheap snow boots that always gave me a blister and ordered some new cheap ones. Still tempted by all of these, though, and those Merrells are very well priced.

I've gotten through this snowy, frigid week with my Loeffler Randall Bridget boots, which aren't super warm but have great traction. My Blondo sneaker boots are great for this weather too, except one of them seems to have disappeared.

Love the Sorrel and Merrill boots, both excellent brands and super comfy!

(I'm really fond of the expression "Heaven forfend.") My elementary and junior high daughters were the recent joyful recipients of low Uggs which they were wishing for-- I am happy to think of their feet being warm and cozy but do not find these Uggs particularly visually appealing. I like your selections much better!!
