Back in 1979 this bitch used to wear two (count 'em), TWO Izod polo shirts at once, in complimentary colors. With POPPED COLLARS, no less. NO ARIZONA STATE FRAT BOY COULD RESIST ME. I swept them right out of their topsiders with my splendor.
Same! 1982 high school freshman picture features two polos with popped collars, an oxford cloth button down, and a blue blazer. I'm not sure how I moved my arms...
Is it my imagination or are these models, like, extreeeemly thin? Leafing through a recent Harper's Bazaar issue I thought most of the models looked anorexic; I guess we're back to that? Sadly? xo
I would love to see clothes modeled on women with actual breasts. I have to use my imagination to think how I would look, since I do not have the physique of a 10 year old boy.
Bah! I have an event with co workers at TopGolf today and we are dressing as golfers. (Blachhh I know. I am the Girl of a Certain Age on the team...) I combed the thrift stores yesterday for a polo shirt as I got my fill as a New England prep in the 80s. These are cooler than the green Polo polo I found. With a purple horsey. Thanks for keeping us hip Kim. Have a great Wednesday cyber pals.
I kinda live for these posts--better than anti-depressants. Something I'd love to see- is how, once "retired" from corporate life--you create a capsule wardrobe that is comfortable and an upgrade from the schlock I've been wearing while completing my novel. (I wore the same thing for like a year. Sometimes I look in the mirror and think--OMG you used to actually wear dresses by actual designers and now look at you...you look so sad in your black on black with black exercise clothes.)
A loose polo sounds ideal in hot weather. Not only is it more put together, but the coverage on the neck is nice. I often forget to slather sunscreen back there.
As someone else indicated, these posts are a tonic amidst my other 'doom and gloom' subscriptions. So, thank you as always.
I was curious, would you ever consider a round-up of recommendations for men/young adult boys, with trousers, jeans and different types of shirts. Maybe even shoes. I have a couple of delightful specimen in my life (whom I love dearly) but who are, unfortunately, part of the 'we can't be arsed to think about clothes' club.
That last one from Cos––silk cotton blend. OooooLaEffingLa––that is one I'd wear, but like most here––I had my fill of polo shirts the last time around.
In case it is of interest, I am snooping through the Nordys catalog, and it looks to my eyes as if there might be a leather slade jacket, on p. 25. It looks quite nifty. And I think it has brass buttons, too. Nice!
I have the same opinion on the surge of denim shorts I’ve seen. Wore them the first time around, I’m going to pass on this round. Just too hot to wear.
Thank you for this roundup, Kim. It gives me a much better idea of polos that don't look like part of a work uniform (which is my worry about wearing polo shirts).

Related: I cannot wear polo shirts to this day.

I’m imaging Joey wearing all of chandler’s clothes
Who needs to move her arms when she is so preppily layered up? Did you have a hairband? Or a grosgrain ribbon on your ponytail?
Oh man you must have been one of the disdainful cool girls. 😜

Super thin models everywhere. Culture shift in a trad wife way. May I blame the Republicans?
You have my blessing. xo

Nope I am a big liar. It's not a slade, it's something called Sadie - I guess it is more cropped. Still nice though.

Also, no ticket pocket. But very similar really. Quite nice.
...aaaaaand now I'm obsessed with that first one from The Great.
