I didn't know they did this at Jones Road. Hummm...so interesting! The only Jones Road store I've been to the 12-year-old sales clerks were so snotty I didn't even purchase what I went in to buy. I just wandered around a bit and left. Now that I'm in my 70's I find this sort of thing happens more often in both make-up emporiums and clothing stores. if young sales women weren't so closed minded they would know a 70-year-old has more spending power than a 20-year-old and would be falling all over us. (sorry, my rant of the day) BUT, I'm really glad to know you were able to find products and had, what sounds like, excellent advice!
It’s hard to face that our own gender treats those of us who are a little older as if we were invisible. Annoying enough when men do it, but young women do also and it makes me sad. And it will likely happen to them too.
I actually enjoy being invisible but my greatest consolation when I'm treated with outright nastiness is thinking, "You think old age isn't coming to you, too, honey? IF you're lucky?" Because I may be invisible, but I am also a bitch.
Same thing happened to me at the Armani counter at Bloomingdale’s. I stood for ages waiting for help and a couple of 20-something’s walked up and were helped right away. I said: “Excuse me, I was here first but I’ve changed my mind, you just lost a big sale” and walked away - my Pretty Woman moment!
Please come back. If the store was East Hampton the 12 year old was prob a friends daughter because it’s sometimes hard to get help out there. She was prob more shy than snooty !
Girl! I KNOW you looked good with that makeup and I love when I hear you being satisfied with your own looks. That's hard to do for most of us. I wish Jones Road had a store in Los Angeles. I would like to have my face done and I am petrified of doing it. Most of the girls at Sephora here in L.A. look like they are 2 steps away from a drag show.
Was in NYC (closest store to me in Toronto) last January and had a great experience testing products. Perhaps I had a special day because all the other shoppers were remarkable women also in the 50+ camp and we had a blast telling each other how great we looked. Felt like a slumber party. And the What the Foundation was silk and make my skin so happy.
I have become obsessed with Jones Road over the past six months. I live not far from the flagship store in Montclair where the service is great and the makeup artists are “women of a certain age.” I also was told to go with a lighter eyebrow shade and it does look better than the thread and dye that I was getting.
I go to the W Village store. They gave me samples of the miracle balm when they were out of the shade I wanted. Is the Montcalr location walkable from downrown Montclair? I usually take NJT to Bay St.
This is my current favorite brand! Unfortunately, there are no stores close to me, but I am checking out some of your recommendations. I too am a huge fan of the foundation.
Same here . I’m in Canada and our only options are online . I hope they hook up with a wholesaler or even Sephora here so we can see before buying . I’ve bought a fair bit so far but find the quality uneven , which surprises me considering BB isn’t exactly new to the game . This post has inspired me to order the lip/ cheek stick thing now ;)
I've loved the Jones Road products I've bought based on your recs Kim, just thought sadly "but they don't sell it in the UK" but hurrah they now carry the line at the beautiful Liberty store in London! Gives me an excuse to make the trek there (as if I needed one).
I'd like to try this but hate buying makeup sight unseen. Also, I have really fair skin and think it's weird that none of the products seem to have SPF? Is there a reason for this?
I was an early adopter of Jones Road, phasing things in and out (except Miracle Balm) over the past few years. Delighted to hear that the foundation is tuned up because I did not love the texture at first. Since we have similar coloring and I don't live near a store I'm going to audit my things and revisit a few items! Thank you!
Has the foundation been reformulated? Because when I bought it last year, it was creamy and perfect, but over the summer it got weirdly granular and didn't work so well on my skin. I wonder whether they might put it in smaller containers (with a smaller price!) so it won't go off so quickly? At her namesake company, Bobbi Brown once made a FANTASTIC balm foundation in a pot that had 20 SPF. Then it was discontinued. I had high hopes that she'd recreated it with this product but it's not the same.
I ordered some fresh foundation last night. Will report back! So many favorites among her original line that are no more....buffing grains for one. But I still use that dreamy orange scented Face Base every night.
The foundation itself kind of separated after a month or two , and it’s hard to apply evenly although I love the result once I do get it smoothed on evenly . I’m hoping it’s been reformulated . Same with the mascara . I want to love it but it’s so incredibly gloopy and clumpy . Reviews for it are all over the place .
It seems like coconut oil is no longer used as an ingredient, which is great for those of us who instantly break out from products containing it. Maybe I’ll give the line another try.
I discovered that using my Miracle Balm, I use a spatula to move the content from the sides to the middle. While doing so, I “whipped” the balm slightly. Now it so airy and fluffy to the touch rather than “waxy”and applies on the skin so smoothly.
With both the WTF & Miracle Balm, a little goes a long way and giving them time to dry a bit makes applying over them much easier.
I am still struggling to like WTF. I recently bought it a second time and it’s definitely not grainy anymore. But I haven’t found a sunblock that works under it without the foundation pilling all over my face. And it also sits on my pores like polka dots. What sunscreen are you able to use? I love Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen, but it doesn’t work with this foundation
I am a big Jones Road fan and have lots of products. I have used the foundation, loved it, but the grainy/separation over time was a bummer so I stopped using it. I would like to use it again but really wish they would either sell in a smaller or different container. I'm sure over time the quality is compromised by my fingers and the air.

Thank you so much for replying. And, yes, the store was East Hampton. I'll be back this summer.
OMG I was just going to say "I hope Bobbi sees your comment."
Gah, no pix??
Sorry, I should have thought of that but didn’t!

My thoughts exactly!

could you show us an after photo?

I’m also in NJ. Guess I’ll be visiting the Montclair shop.
I didn't realize they were in Montclair either. One town over from me, so I'll definitely be going to get my shades done.

I love the WTF foundation… it’s amazing. Miracle Balm too. Now, JRB needs to come out with a matte lipstick and waterproof mascara and I’ll be set!

A store is about to open near me on the UES and was thinking of doing the same. Thanks for the heads up.
Did not know this! I’m also a UES gal. A makeover might be my birthday gift to myself in April.
Yes, still under construction last time I walked by on Madison near 81st Street!
Hopefully a spring awakening for us all!

I had the same problem with the foundation. Very gritty.

Huge Jones Road fan, except for the mascara. It was messy.

I wear and love my WTF :)

My skin really does love these products.

It's been so long since I've had a makeover, and now I want to go to there. (I am also itching for a wardrobe makeover.)
