The day after Christmas, I traveled to the cute new Jones Road store not far from me in Cobble Hill, and got my shades done. I’ve never had this properly done before—typically I just rely on guesswork—and that was kind of a revelation. But the biggest headline is that What The Foundation, which I loved when it first was introduced, but eventually stopped using because it was too weirdly grainy, is NO LONGER weirdly grainy! This excites me, as I really do think it’s the best foundation I’ve found: lightweight and sheer, and it makes your skin super-glowy. Next up, my makeup artist Fariza applied this eyeshadow, which comes in a handy tiny little pot and which you can apply with your fingers if you want. It’s a shimmery brown, more shimmery than I might typically go for, but not too much and I find that I really like it. Then came this liner pencil in brown, which I already knew about, and use every day. Next up: this lip and cheek stick in Tawny Nude. This is a MUCH subtler shade that I usually wear on my cheeks and lips, and it was more subtly flattering, too, so lesson learned. Next came this brow pencil in Light Brunette—again, I usually go for a darker shade on my brows, and was surprised at how good this looked. Dark circles were vanquished with this neutralizer pencil (in light peach). Finally, a smudge of Miracle Balm in Pinky Bronze, and we were done. I’m sure I screwed up the order this all happened in, and there were for sure a few more products involved, but these, I think, are the keepers.

I didn't know they did this at Jones Road. Hummm...so interesting! The only Jones Road store I've been to the 12-year-old sales clerks were so snotty I didn't even purchase what I went in to buy. I just wandered around a bit and left. Now that I'm in my 70's I find this sort of thing happens more often in both make-up emporiums and clothing stores. if young sales women weren't so closed minded they would know a 70-year-old has more spending power than a 20-year-old and would be falling all over us. (sorry, my rant of the day) BUT, I'm really glad to know you were able to find products and had, what sounds like, excellent advice!
Gah, no pix??
