Love everything in this post. Future post idea...shoes under 250.00 that are stylish and have removable insoles. I ruined my feet (had plantar fasciitis surgery which worked but still feet are not great when long walking without my custom orthotics) wearing cheap high heels in my 20s 24/7. I am aware of Munro/Pikolinos and a few other that Nordstrom (and Zappos) carries BUT their description of if insoles removable often not often accurate and they carry almost none in their stores. So tired of the the buy/return cycle and spending a lot on shoes I don't like or feel good wearing. Please help with recs. Thank you.
A sister PF sufferer here. In my not humble enough opinion ... don't feel bad. I didn't wear heels much but I did a bunch of other bad stuff to my feet. (As I recall, there was a brutal pair of flats that I think may have actually caused a bunion.)
Even after about six years or so, I am finding that my foot is still healing. (My actual PF probably only lasted a month, but then I had other issues after that.) And I've been back to hiking for several years. I think I only took about a year off? Maybe even less. So, there is definitely hope, I think. What is happening is, every now and then I notice that my foot can stretch more. A stretchability that had been lost, came back. (I'd even forgotten it was gone. So that was nice.)
If you're happy with the insoles, then you're basically there.
But if anyone else reading this needs help, imo, the number one thing to do - once you've been diagnosed and all that - is to go to a good running store or an REI store. Call first to find out who the best PF shoe salesperson is and when they work. (I find that green Superfeet off the shelf help me enormously.) These people helped me way more, in practical terms, than the podiatrist. They pointed me to better products than the doctor knew about.
As to fashion though ... if my Superfeet can't fit in, it's difficult. I have some Dansko Frankies that I do okay in - there is some other type of insole I put in them. But, I don't walk far in them. So, really I'm not that helpful at all!! I am just sympathetic.
I usually complain about clothes not being in my size. But today I’m going to complain about shoes stopping at a size 41. I guess they don’t want my money either.
Yes! My feet have spread and grown with age. Two years ago I literally had to get rid of almost all of my shoes. I have ugly old feet with bunions, heel spurs, tendinitis etc etc. It's so hard to find shoes in a 10.5 or above....those olive green shoes are great. Not my size
As Marcelle said above: those shoes! I love menswear-ish shoes, and those are just gorgeous. If I hadn't just bought an expensive pair of boots, the lace-ups would be in my cart right now. They might still find their way there... Also love the leopard-print shirt and the cardigan and the denim shirt jacket.
Kim, I love the selections. I have a question about the lace-up shoes, what kind of pants would you wear with them? A straight leg that is longer? A cropped pant? Idk! Thanks.
Ooh...the yummy fall feel of both of these pairs of shoes and the cropped cords. We are supposed to hit 75 in Seattle today and drop back down tomorrow. That's enough of that! Bring on the Tweeds!
I like many of these pieces, thank Kim ! Is it just me or is it almost impossible to find straight(ish) leg jeans that aren't cropped? I feel like this has been going on for years and years. Cropped pants are a) not very flattering on me personally, b) leave me with cold ankles in our cold, damp PNW winters and c) maybe in vogue but I wish they'd go away. Am I the only one?

You might try bared footwear - they note which styles are orthotic friendly and they have a store in NYC

There's also Frankie 4, I think they are similar but you may want to check with them on removability.

Getting ready for a utilitarian fall with touches of menswear glam!

I was in the 4th grade and wearing a size 9. By the time I was in high school I was wearing men’s shoes.
Those shoes! I wore an identical pair to death in the mid 1990s and I miss them. *adds to cart*.
100%-"one of the best leopard prints I've seen in a while."
Those sneakers - really the perfect shade of grey/taupe!

Such good choices!
Yes to the leopard print, the cords (smart buy), tweed blazer and cardigan (I'm a sucker for gold buttons too). The sneaks sure look comfy.
Wallabees!! So cute. (Hmm.)
The weather here has been just divine. I've even been wearing socks at times. !!
