Winter is my least favorite season. It makes me sad when all of the leaves fall from the trees, and it gets dark early, and the sky turns white for days and days at a time, the sun a distant memory. But most of all, I loathe the cold. So I take staying warm seriously, and here’s the jacket that’s gotten me through the past six or seven winters: Aritzia’s Super Puff. Aritzia is a Canadian company, so they understand what cold is, and this little number has never let me down. It comes in a wide variety of colors and lengths, too.
Just an impossibly good leopard print, from Ganni, that exceeds the GOACA price limit but was too good not to show you.
Here’s an under $150 option from Quince that also comes in tons of good colors.
I dig the diamond-shaped quilting here.
A chevron-quilted option with a cozy sherpa-lined hood.
I like this one because it’s long enough to cover your butt, but also not too long. It’s also available in black, but is sold out in some sizes, and besides, the white is so appealingly Snow Queen.
This colorblock specimen from Kule is currently marked way down.
And here’s a slightly brighter colorblock jacket that I also really like.
I dig safety orange, so this reversible jacket is right up my alley, and the faux fur collar is just so good.
This is brought to you by the same brand, Orolay, that made a killing on the “Amazon jacket” several years back. And it’s kind of similar to that jacket, but more excellently shiny. I’m really tempted by it, and right now it’s marked down to under $100.
There are a lot of handy pockets on this Timberland choice.
And finally, while I know sometimes they’re 100% necessary, and I of course own one, I find longer puffers to be almost inevitably frumpy. But this one, from Adidas and Stella McCartney’s ongoing collab, is just aces.
As a size 18/20 I’m a fan of Universal Standards puffers. I have 2 with a third coming. They are cute and warm.
The Amazon Orolay jacket I bought several years ago hangs there in my basement, looking beautiful like Japanese art, but the zipper is a piece of shit.
