That denim skirt is so lovely-! I tend to get more excited about a good skirt because people are less likely to go, "ooh, why are YOU all dressed up today!" than when you show up in a dress. I guess if you skew a little tomboy, they read as a little more insouciant and less churchy. But then if you get one with nice sway in the skirt with flat sandals, now you're casually elegant and comfortable all day.
Since I quit working ten years ago, I have not worn a skirt once. Skirts (and dresses) worn without pantyhose just feel bad to me. The inner-thigh rubbing thing, yuck. I've tried undies designed to prevent that (Jockey's "Skimmies") and they are just too hot. God, I hate summer clothes. I'm always happier wearing nearly nothing and staying home.
I feel your pain with skirts. I WANT to love them, especially fuller ones, in which I dream of looking like Miuccia Prada but nine times out of ten end up looking like a nurse. Even the rare ones that flatter (a subtle A-line or pencil) are problematic for me to style, because as Nadine says, finding tops are a problem. My default in summer is a t-shirt, in winter a sweater, but by the time I put the look together, I think I'd much rather just be in a pair of jeans or linen pants.
These are great. The ME + EM is going in my bag now.
I will also add that I bought this skirt by DC designer Kim Schalk in two colors and it is shockingly flattering, super sophisticated and cooling since it's linen and Tencil. And no, I'm not her publicist, I just think she does a great job...
I love the Reiss denim skirt paired with the white sleeveless top. That’s a look I would wear, but I would want to alter both: lengthen the top to avoid belly exposure, and expand the waistband!😍
A friend and I were just looking for summery cotton skirts good for travel and hot August days, so this is perfect timing. I like the Quince washable silk, and they also have a poplin one that comes with POCKETS! Although I like your fave black one, because black, I’m looking for a style with a little more room for air to move around my sweaty legs.
My most important criterion for a skirt: DOES IT HAVE POCKETS?
Stitched down pleats
Thank you!

Megababe Thigh Rescue legit changed my life (not an ad!)
I second this!
I'm going to try it!!!!
Thirded! Skirts all summer with the mini Thigh Rescue in my bag!
Hot take - you can use your stick deodorant to avoid thigh chafe! Works like a charm and lasts all day.
This worked better for me than the Megababe Thigh Balm, thanks for the tip!!!
I’m so glad! Anything to feel more comfortable in this heat 🥵

i think even Miuccia looks like a nurse when she wears this style and that's why she looks so badass
I feel the same way about skirts because you need to deal with finding a top that works. This year, I have purchased a few to expand my options!
I ordered that knit red striped skirt so fast! For some reason, I adore a knit skirt like that (70s childhood?)
Fingers crossed that it fits well!
Love the Lila skirt...
The denim skirt is AMAZING!
Aren’t they called box pleats?
i love skirts in all seasons - its currently Winter down under!
I am a skirt queen! I loathe jeans and pants. That Alex Mill skirt is right up my alley. Thank you!

Veronica's floral gets my top vote followed by the rib knit in black and the Alex Mill seersucker.
