I can’t stop thinking about this excellent camo puffer—as I’ve mentioned before, I think outerwear is the one item most worth worth investing in, especially because—if you live somewhere that gets really cold—your coat is your outfit a lot of the time. So maybe I’ll go for it. Thoughts?
This washable cashmere crewneck tee doesn’t look like much here, but lord, if it isn’t the ideal, stylish base layer for this time of year. The cashmere is whisper-thin, the material is pretty sheer, and the sleeves are delightfully long, something I always appreciate. I’ve been wearing it under sweaters in the morning when I walk the dog, but It’d also look great layered under a dress or button-down. I wish I’d found it sooner because now it’s sold out in some sizes, but this cashmere blend tee, from Uniqlo, seems like it might work pretty well too.
Such a perfect crescent bag—they really nailed the shape here. And it’s big enough for all of your stuff but also not too big. It’s on preorder, and, judging by the fact that it’s already sold out in some shades, going fast.
I’m pleased to report that—despite the fact that I find pants and jeans impossible to shop for—I am having some luck with options from Frank & Eileen. These jeans, for instance, have such a good, worn-in wash (there are other washes available) and look like you’ve owned them forever. It also has a healthy amount of stretch—without looking like it does.
A denim shirt dress I’d wear with tights and boots now, and on its own when warmer weather returns.
One of my favorite brands, Kule, is having a big sale right now, and in addition to many great sweaters and tees, this fun tote is also marked nicely down.
One of you mentioned in the comments that Quince was offering a dupe of Rag & Bone’s ever-popular Slade Blazer, and of course I had to check it out immediately—isn’t it good? It comes in black too, and a blue I don’t really love, and rings in at a hair under $100.
Just the most polished barn jacket I think I’ve ever seen. And I do love a corduroy collar.
I’d layer this half-zip vest over shirts, turtlenecks, and tees for a cool, not-so-bulky layer.
And finally, just a really good, streamlined single-breasted coat.
I can vouch for the Uniqlo cashmere mix t-shirt. It is the softest, warmest thing I've put on my body in a long time. Already bought a second one and two for gifts.
Since moving to New England 22 years ago I have amassed a vast collection of coats and jackets which have become my real "outfits." My day to day uniforms have gradually become black turtlenecks w/ either black pants of some sort or white jeans (an homage to the inimitable Tonne Goodman.). So my one big variable on any given day is the jacket......Barbour, JCrew, Ralph Lauren, Brooks Brothers....so many favorites. But excuse me while I go obsess over that camo puffer! It's freezing here today and I have book club tonight!
