My husband likes to observe that I’m attracted to TV shows in which people treat each other horribly. And he does have somewhat of a a point: I loved Succession, Industry, The Great, and a lot of other shows with pretty dark hearts. But Abbott Elementary, which returns next week, and which I like quite a bit, is a different beast entirely. Set in a public Philly elementary school, Abbott follows the days of a group of school administrators, teachers, and other random staff. It’s funny and warm and sometimes even slightly edgy without ever being mean, and has an optimistic spirit that fills my cold, dead heart. (YouTube)
