Searching for pants in which to lounge
In which I attempt to bring some style to indoor dressing
My morning routine is thus: get up around 6 or 6:30 (I would love nothing more than to sleep later, but my body won’t let me anymore), have coffee, check my socials, do word games in the Times Games app. That’s about the first hour or so of the day. Then I drag my ass out of bed, throw on something sweats-adjacent, and walk the dog. When I return home from that, I open up my laptop and have the most productive work hours of the day by far—pre-breakfast, pre-shower, in my shabby sweats, while my husband sleeps. I realized recently that I spend a healthy portion of the day dressed in my morning gear, so perhaps it should be nicer. To that end, this comes in a whopping 15 colors, and I love the big front pockets, which remind me of army pants.
Everlane’s sweatpant—which I think has such an excellent shape—was sold out for a while in a lot of sizes, but thrillingly, they’ve restocked.
These are mostly for indoor wear, with that cropped, wide leg, but I think they look extra-comfy.
A longer wide leg, at a nice price.
I can’t not include Rag & Bone’s trompe l’oeil Miramar jeans, because they get more wear than any pair of sweats I own. So covertly chic.
I could so totally see going for a pair of velour joggers, and I just might. They’re pretty great in this green too.
A cashmere pair that rings in just under $100.
These, from Uniqlo, are made from lightweight recycled poly, and seem like they’d be good for doing yoga or pilates or something like that.
I do like a pair of striped track pants: so enticingly old school.
And finally, this chic fleece pant has a great silhouette, and could easily be worn on the street.
Those Everlane sweatpants are amazing. I NEVER have worn sweats bc I feel so sloppy and they don’t seem flattering. The Everlane ones are my new favorite thing. The material is substantial, that shape makes them feel and look sorta cool…highly recommend.
Can confirm the Ayr High Hopes are all that. I'm always looking for double duty items when I travel, and these are indispensable. Look great with a sweater and sneakers during the day while touring around, at night with a party top and heels for dinner.
