Packing list: Los Angeles
Travel is nigh
We’re headed to California bright and early Thursday morning, and I’m really excited, even though the weather forecast is crap. We’re there for five days, which is firmly carry-on territory, and I’m adhering to my #1 rule of packing, which is to go for a tight color palette, so everything can go with everything else. Here’s what I’m bringing, starting with this spiff white button-down shirt. I just realized it is my habit to wear a white button-down on the plane. Then I’ll typically wash it in the hotel bathroom sink and wear it again.
Another silk shirt, but one that has the crispness of a cotton shirt, while still coming off appealingly slouchy.
A good, comfortably-cut pair of jeans is a must. I like this straight-leg style.
I went ahead and bought these $30 satin pants, after I posted them here and a couple of people bought and reported back that they loved them. And I have to say they are kind of magically flattering, and will take up precious little room in the suitcase.
I pretty much always pack a pair of chinos, and I like that these have army pant details.
It will be damp in L.A., but it will also be significantly warmer than here, so I’ll be bringing a lightweight, packable puffer like this one.
I’m actually also going to bring a utility jacket like this one for when it warms up in the afternoon.
Definitely I’ll be bringing sneakers, for wearing on the plane and for most of the trip, probably. I kind of love this bright and chunky pair.
And I might also bring a pair of rubber-soled clogs like these.
