I learned to love L.A., and—suitably enough, shopping in L.A.—when I was at Lucky. Especially in those early years, when trips out west were frequent, and I lived like a damned princess, in possession of a car and driver, a clothing allowance, and a suite at the Four Seasons Beverly Hills.
