Kitten heels used to strike me as impossibly prissy and not at all my thing. But that was before I stopped being able to wear higher heels without crushing pain. Now I think they’re just great—both walkable and chic. I especially like this pair, with studded details, from Reformation.
Those of you who listened to this week’s episode of the podcast might recall that we discussed a particular—and quite amazing—Rachel Comey pump that we both would love to own. Reader, it is this.
Snakeskin works really well as a neutral, and these are just cute as can be.
I do like a pointy toe; I think they’re polished looking, and give the appearance of the shoe having a higher heel. These, from Madewell, are so poppy in red.
This braided leather pair deeply appeals, and I’m not typically drawn to white footwear.
These are just a smidge higher than a kitten heel, but they’re so elegant that I’m allowing it.
Just a solid, classic slingback mule.
This gold metallic pair would have the power to render even the most boring outfit exciting.
A good, solid pump from Naturalizer, so they’re sure to be comfy.
Another nice slingback that looks pricier than it is.
Downer of the day: pointy-toed shoes are contributing factors to developing bunions.
I am not opposed to kitten heels. What is bothering me about the spate of current shoe styles is the pointy toe––they read very TradWife to me because that's the style of shoe my mother always wore to church. But that's my upbringing not everyone's. And while I appreciate the cut/style/shape of the Rachel Comey shoe I can NOT get past the BigBird color! I do think the gold metallic mule is elegant, but if I wore them they'd flip off my foot and land in someone's spaghetti marinara.
